Blackstone cook guide

Pre · cook · post · when to actually reseason · mice & grease

Core rule: Daily cook = scrape + thin oil film. That is not a full reseason. Full reseason is rare — rust, stripped seasoning, or a new cooktop.

Pre-cook

Mice first. Spot droppings? Mist disinfectant or soapy water, wipe — don’t dry-sweep. Then heat.

During cook

Post-cook

This is what stops “reseason every time.”

When to actually reseason

Rare

Full reseason only when:

Short method (follow Blackstone’s guide for detail):

  1. Clean to a dry, bare or near-bare surface.
  2. Heat the cooktop.
  3. Wipe on very thin oil (avocado, canola, or Blackstone seasoning oil).
  4. Let it smoke off; cool slightly; repeat 3–4 thin coats.

Thick pours = sticky mess, not seasoning.

Mice & grease

Grease cup = buffet. Empty it every cook. Cover on + straps tight. Steel wool in gaps mice use. Never dry-sweep droppings (pregnancy / kids / dog).
